About

Carer Wellbeing Academy is dedicated to supporting family and friend carers and community groups with resources, guidance, and encouragement. At the heart of this initiative is Matthew Elder, a passionate advocate for carer wellbeing with over 14 years of professional experience and a deeply personal connection to the caregiving journey.

Matthew has worked extensively in the carer support space, facilitating workshops, developing resources, and collaborating with carers from all walks of life. His experience includes working with carer support groups, and delivering targeted workshops on resilience, carer wellbeing, and peer support. He has also successfully managed projects designed to equip carers with digital literacy skills, enabling them to confidently navigate an increasingly digital world.
In addition to his professional expertise, Matthew brings valuable lived experience to his work. He provides care and support to family members with diverse and complex needs, giving him a firsthand understanding of the challenges and rewards of the role.
Matthew’s dedication to carer wellbeing is evident in every resource and workshop he creates. His work focuses on offering practical strategies to lighten the load of caregiving, building resilience, and fostering a sense of connection among carers.
Through Carer Wellbeing Academy, carers can access:
  • Comprehensive resources to navigate the challenges of caregiving.
  • Workshops and training programs that empower carers with tools to build resilience and enhance their skills.
  • Opportunities for connection within a supportive community of carers.
Matthew believes that while caregiving can be one of life’s most meaningful roles, it can also be one of the most demanding. His mission is to ensure carers feel seen, valued, and supported, providing them with the tools they need to prioritise their own wellbeing alongside the care they provide for others.
Carer Wellbeing Academy exists to create a stronger, healthier future for carers everywhere.
